Developing community guidelines for my site: Why are these the right guidelines for it? How would I implement them?
As we reach the end of our course, one last discussion to think about is the guidelines. I had something similar released in the first week of class- the Privacy Policy page of my website. However, I am going to expand more on this topic and explain why these guidelines are right for my website and how I would implement them.
To implement these guidelines, I am going to make another page that goes in the footer of my website. I feel this is the best way to go about it as it is something that should stand out and is always visible to people.
In a nutshell, the community guidelines for my website would be as follows:
- Respectful discourse
- No tolerance for hate speech
- Staying on topic
- Celebrating diversity
The reason for implementing these guidelines is to collectively ensure that this website remains a hub of positivity, knowledge-sharing, and excitement for all topics related to smartphones. I have my comments on all my posts, as well as the share button. The reason for this is to spark conversations and have people give their insights too. This being said, I don’t want people spamming the posts by going off-topic and spreading hate speech, but be respectful to all views and thoughts.
Stay tuned for a community guidelines page.
